Here's a transcript of the e-mails between myself and Chris Hildebrandt, after I hired him to complete a project that I posted on Zikula Pro.

In short, I hired Chris to do a job, for which he asked to be paid in advance. Usually I wouldn't do something so stupid, but I figured that Chris has been in the Zikula community for quite some time and has participated in many projects. Plus, he must be one of the core developers because his contact e-mail address was chris@zikula.org, which was my mistake. Chris is not one of the Zikula core developers and to my knowledge doesn't currently have any working modules for Zikula.

For a job that he quoted "estimated real programming time (3 hours)", it turned out to be 79 days (2 months, 18 days) of lies and procrastination where I never received the finished product that I paid for.

After months of broken promises, I ended up hiring a different developer and paying him in addition to the money that was never refunded as promised, by Chris.

I have tried to be fair and will only say that due to my negative experience it is my belief that Chris is untrustworthy and a liar.

Read the e-mails below and come to your own conclusion.

In addition to the correspondence between myself and thieving Chris, here's another site created by someone else.

Hi Chris,

I just noticed that you posted a bid on my ZikulaPro posting.
I accept your bid, how soon can you start, how soon until you're done, how would you like to get paid :)

Here's a link that wasn't included (probably filtered out) in the description: http://itouchmap.com/latlong.html
I would like the map to show up centered and zoomed to a predefined location.
The itouchmap allows for multiple location pins but I would like to limit it to one.
On the itouchmap site, you have to click on the location pin to get the lat and long, I would like it to automatically populate the map field with the lat and long

Pseudocode Walkthrough:
Realtor clicks link to add a new listing to their site.
The map is shown on the Pagesetter data entry form. Must be compatible with custom templates stored in publications folder. I would also *like* it to be compatible with Dits' new Pgform module if possible.
The map is centered and zoomed to a predefined location.
The realtor can either drag and zoom the map to find their location and drop a location marker or type in an address which drops a marker that can be dragged to tweak the location.
When the location marker is added or changed (dragged), the location field is updated with the new lat and long.

Once I have the lat and long in the format required by Google maps, I can use GMapEZ to do the rest.

Chris Hildebrandt to darryl (Apr 22)

Hi Darryl,

nice to hear from you. I had planned to work on a bigger project for the
next 2 weeks, which actually has now been moved to June by the client.
So, I am ready to start working on yours by tomorrow. I estimate
(including testing by me and you) to have a productive result ready by
the end of next week.

There are different approaches to solutions, probably the best one would
be using the new Locations module together with Pagesetter, create a
fitting plugin for your needs, and adapt the Pagesetter templates to
show the map. That way we do not have to hack Guppy, which is always a
pain and has no future. I've done something quite similar at
http://technikweblook.com where we use such solution for the
international trade show calendar (just click on a show in the calendar
to see it - please do not worry about not much english there, target
audience are Germans).

My bid is for the estimated real programming time (3 hours) and based on
your criteria. Of course we can extend this if you see your wishes grow
while we are working together. I expect $ 200.00 as a down payment for
the expected costs in advance via PayPal - my account there is
mail@strucom.com for my company Structured Communication Corp..

Please note that you wont reach me in LA or LV for the next months, but
instead in my Vienna, Austria home, which is GMT+2. So, best way to
communicate is probably email, the Zikula IRC chat or Skype.

I am looking forward to a successful co-operation.

Greetings,
Chris (slam) Hildebrandt

As long as the workflow is as I wrote, the backend stuff is secondary.

Doing that now.

Chris Hildebrandt to darryl (Apr 27)

Hi Darryl,
I started working on your stuff, you can see ongoing progress on the
test area I set up for it http://w3you.com/longlat/ - as soon as it does
what we want I will convert it to a Pagesetter plugin.
Greetings,
Chris

Chris Hildebrandt to darryl (Apr 30)

Hi Darryl,

could you re-check if http://w3you.com/longlat/ exactly does now what you expected?
If you can give a your ok, I will create the pagesetter plugin for it.

Greetings,
Chris

Darryl K Schmidt to Chris (Apr 30)

Hi Chris,

Looking pretty snazzy.

The only thing that I can see is missing is the ability to drop a marker, perhaps via right click?. I'd like my realtors to be able to drag the map to a location and drop a marker for the coords for listings that aren't available via physical address (cabins, new builds, etc).

With that addition, I believe we'd be right on target.

Oh, one more thing, can you add a separate pre-populated text box for the city and/or province. Typing in an address without the city sometimes returns results from another city. If you want to discuss this as an extra, I'm open to that as well. Also, if you have any suggestions that might enhance functionality while remaining "realtor easy", suggest away and we can talk price.

Darryl K Schmidt to Chris (May 16)

Hi Chris,

haven't heard from you in a while. Can you give me an update?

Darryl Schmidt to chris (May 20)

Hi Chris,
Are you not getting my e-mails?
I'm sending this from a different account to both of your addresses that I know of so hopefully we can connect :)

Chris Hildebrandt to darryl (May 22)

Hi Darryl,
sorry for the delayed answer - I was recovering from a surgery (all ok now).
I will look into your Google-PS-plugin over the weekend and report.
Greetings,
Chris

Darryl Schmidt to Chris (May 25)

Hi Chris, hope you're feeling better :)

Did you get my e-mail containing this:

The only thing that I can see is missing is the ability to drop a marker, perhaps via right click?. I'd like my realtors to be able to drag the map to a location and drop a marker for the coords for listings that aren't available via physical address (cabins, new builds, etc).

Darryl Schmidt to Chris (May 31)

Chris,
I'd really like to get this wrapped up. I understand if personal issues have come into play, but the fact is that I paid in advance in good faith and I feel that you are dragging your feet. I find your lack of communication troubling and unprofessional.

Darryl Schmidt to chris (June 3)

Chris,
Do you even intend to finish the job your were paid to do.
At least let me know if you don't so I can make other arrangements.

Chris Hildebrandt to Darryl (June 4)

H Darryl,
please accept my sincer appologies - I did not forget you and of course
I will finish the job asap.
I look into the requested changes and prepare the final plugin for
testing this weekend.
Greetings,
Chris Hildebrandt

Darryl Schmidt to Chris (June 13)

Ok, I gave you an additional week.......
I would like this project completed this weekend or I expect a full refund.

Chris Hildebrandt to Darryl (June 15)

Hi Darryl,
I fully understand that you can not wait any longer, while I am still
unable to complete the work. I have attached what is done and usable so
far. If that is at least partially usable for you I would really
appreciate if you agree with a partial refund, otherwise of course I
will refund fully to you. Please let me know.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.
Greetings,
Chris

Darryl Schmidt to Chris (June 20)

Hmm, I had to wait a couple days so I could answer this in a civil manner.
I will expect a full refund as soon as possible.

Darryl Schmidt to Chris (June 26)

Chris,
My refund should be received shortly or I will be forced to initiate the paypal payment resolution.
Please be a professional and fulfill your financial obligations.

Chris Hildebrandt to darryl (June 28)

Hi,
I will refill the PayPal account next week and then immediately send
your refund as requested.
Greetings,
Chris

Darryl Schmidt to Chris (June 28)

I need a firm date, since you seem to let things slide.
To be clear, beyond that date I will take action.
Currently, I am going to consider that date to be Monday June 29th.

Chris Hildebrandt to Darryl (June 30)

Hi,
I have transferred funds yesterday from my European to my American bank
account, which is bound to PayPal. It usually takes 3-4 business days
until I can use them via PayPal, which I will do of course immediately
to send your refund. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
Greetings,
Chris

Darryl Schmidt to Chris (July 8)

Send me my money now. I am sick of your broken promises and excuses. I do not care what problems you're dealing with. You have 24 hours until I take action. The next e-mail I get with your name on it better be from Paypal saying that I just received a refund.
